A green balcony above the lake, with the sanctuary of Montecastello clinging to the crag and the Parco Alto Garda.
Like Tremosine, Tignale too lies high up: a green terrace of olive trees and woods above the western shore. Its symbol is the Sanctuary of Montecastello, clinging to a crag that overhangs the lake, built upon an ancient castle and, even earlier, a Roman temple. You reach it on foot or by car, and the square in front is one of the finest viewpoints on Garda: you see the lake in all its breadth, right across to Monte Baldo.
The area is part of the Parco Alto Garda Bresciano: paths, mountain pastures, chestnut woods and old abandoned lemon houses, now reclaimed by the vegetation.
It is the quiet, rural face of the lake, the one that never appears on postcards but that surprises those who seek it out.
Clinging to the cliff above the lake. The square is one of the most striking viewpoints on Lake Garda.
Paths, mountain pastures and woods. The lake's nature far from the crowded beaches and lakefront promenades.
Terraces and pillars reclaimed by the woods: the memory of a cultivation that shaped the history of this shore.

Go to Montecastello in the afternoon, when the sun lights up the Verona shore opposite: you can make out Brenzone, and so us too.
Stay in Brenzone and reach this and the other spots on the lake, even by water.
