A path among the olive trees leads to an intact medieval stone village, reachable only on foot.
It is the walk that symbolises Brenzone, and you set off practically from your doorstep. A paved path climbs among the olive groves and in about twenty minutes reaches Campo: a medieval rural hamlet that has remained exactly as it was, with its stone houses, its lanes, its barns.
Almost no one lives here any longer. There is the little church of San Pietro in Vincoli, with fourteenth-century frescoes, and a silence that, just a few hundred metres from the lake, seems impossible. You can continue on towards the other upper hamlets or return by a different path.

You climb up one way and come down another, passing through Castello and Sommavilla.
Do it at sunset: the stone of Campo turns golden and from the village you watch the whole lake fade into dusk.
