It is not a village: it is a promontory. A strip of land with cypresses, olive trees and a sixteenth-century villa built by the humanist Augstino Brenzoni, still private to this day. You reach it along an avenue of cypresses that seems to lead somewhere else entirely.

At the very end, a tiny stone harbour, perhaps the most photographed on the lake. Beside it, the Baia delle Sirene: a beach set within a park of centuries-old olive trees, one of the most sheltered and crystal-clear stretches of water on Garda.

Winston Churchill came here to paint. Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh spent their honeymoon here. It is a place that makes no noise and needs none.
